Position Summary

This position functions as coordinator for the Department’s Digital Cartography Unit which is responsible for coordination of digital map updates for the Official State Highway Map, and the WisDOT County Map Series.

Duties of this position require the incumbent have good technical, organizational and team skills. This position requires significant knowledge and experience in the following areas: Wisconsin Official State Highway Map Production Guidelines; GIS and ArcGIS software; spatial processing techniques and cartographic principals; Microstation or AutoCAD software; and interpretation of construction plans, sub-division plats, certified survey maps, legal documentation and digital design files.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range 07-34 with an annual salary of $58,240-$75,920, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

WisDOT does not sponsor work visas.  Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For positions that do allow remote work flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

  • Experience utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including working with products within the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online).
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex GIS data
  • Training or experience creating cartographic products.
