The GIS & Stewardship Manager is a multi-faceted position with responsibilities that include: maintaining and expanding TennGreen’s GIS database, completing GIS analysis for TennGreen’s Strategic Land Conservation Plan, and stewardship of all conservation easements and landholdings.

GIS Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create high-quality conservation project maps for print and digital presentation in coordination with the Advancement Team
  • Develop, maintain, and update TennGreen’s GIS database
  • Conduct geospatial research
  • Operate and maintain GIS hardware and software
  • Create strategic landowner mailing lists

Stewardship Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedule, complete, and create reports for annual stewardship of all TennGreen properties (easements and fee simple)
  • Engage and coordinate stewardship volunteers, as appropriate
  • Work with Conservation Project Manager to create Baseline Documentation
  • Reports and addendums for conservation easements
  • In consultation with Conservation Project Manager, work with landowners to resolve any conservation issues on their conservation easements (e.g., retroactive survey work, discretionary approvals, management concerns)


  • BS in Geography or other environmental science with a concentration in GIS
  • At least one year of relevant GIS experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must work well independently—as well as collaboratively—to accomplish objectives and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, utilize good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, and respectfully within a variety of opinions and stakeholder groups, including landowners and advocates, rural communities, and donors
  • Work effectively under frequent deadlines
  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills
  • Handle multiple projects and tasks with minimal supervision
